Situated in the heart of California’s San Joaquin wine country, Tracy is a charming city of slightly under 96,000 inhabitants, 9.6% of whom are aged 65 and over. Tracy is less than 30 minutes by car from Stockton and about an hour and 15 minutes from California’s capital city, Sacramento.

The area’s warm, pleasant climate offers abundant sunshine, less than average rainfall amounts and little-to-no snowfall, making it a good option for retirees who appreciate year-round access to outdoor activities such as golfing, birdwatching, picnicking or simply quietly enjoying their outdoor living space.

At an average monthly rate of $3,649, assisted living in Tracy is significantly less expensive than California’s statewide average of $5,250 per month and less than the nationwide average of $4,500 per month. Although other Central Valley communities have similar costs, coastal California residents pay as much as $7,048 in Santa Rosa and $5,475 in San Diego. Tracy is an excellent bargain for seniors seeking a California lifestyle with plenty of access to wineries and fresh, locally-grown food.
