Conveniently situated south of San Jose in California’s iconic Silicon Valley, Gilroy is close to a number of community amenities and attractions. It is the southernmost city in the Bay Area and is known for its garlic crop and the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival. Gilroy has a Mediterranean climate, which means it experiences warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. This type of climate can be appealing for those who want to avoid extreme temperatures. Approximately 11.7% of Gilroy’s overall population of slightly more than 58,000 citizens are aged 65 and over.

Hospitals and medical centers in Gilroy include Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Saint Louise Regional Hospital. The average cost of assisted living in Gilroy is $6,000 per month, although individual facilities may vary in cost due to the quality of their amenities and services and their location within the community.
