Financial Assistance Programs in Lake Forest

Medicaid Program in Lake Forest

California’s Medi-Cal program is an entitlement that helps older adults in the state, including those living in Lake Forest, cover the costs of many senior care services, including assisted living, home care and skilled nursing. Medi-Cal has no enrollment caps or waiting periods. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply and begin receiving services.

Medi-Cal has strict income guidelines. If you make under $1,012 for a single person or $1,372 for a married couple, you can receive Medi-Cal benefits at no out-of-pocket costs. Above those levels, a sliding income scale determines what the program covers and what you must pay out of pocket. Another qualifying criterion involves your total assets: they must not exceed $2,000 for a single person or $3,000 for a married couple.

You can apply for Medi-Cal benefits or receive more information by visiting the website or by calling (866) 613-3777.

Medicaid Waivers in Lake Forest

Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Medi-Cal Waiver

The Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver helps seniors who need assisted living care but are still able to live somewhat independently. The waiver helps pay for in-home care as well as care received at a facility. You can apply or learn more by calling the program office directly at (213) 897-6774.

Assisted Living Waiver Program (ALWP)

Care Coordinators can assist seniors in applying for the Assisted Living Waiver Program, which pays for in-home and in-facility assisted living care. The income qualifications are the same as for Medi-Cal, and you must be a senior with a demonstrated need for assisted living care.

Other Financial Assistance Programs in Lake Forest

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)

The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program helps Lake Forest seniors pay for in-home and in-facility care, and program participants are even able to designate a friend or loved one as their caregiver. To qualify for IHSS, you must be at least 65 and meet the income and asset requirements for Medi-Cal. Call (888) 944-4477 to apply or receive more information.

PACE

The PACE program pays for in-home care services to assist seniors with activities of daily living (ADLs). These include eating, toileting, bathing, dressing and transportation. To qualify, you must require assistance in at least one of these areas and be 55 or older. If your income is below the Medi-Cal threshold, you can receive PACE services free of charge. Even better, PACE is an entitlement, which means there is no waiting period to receive benefits if you qualify.

You can learn more or apply for benefits by visiting the PACE website.

Multi-Purpose Senior Services (MPSS) Program

The MPSS program offers free assistance with in-home care if you are 65 or older and require assistance with one or more ADLs. Visit the MPSS website to apply or find out more.
