Norwalk is a relatively small yet densely populated city located along the I-5 midway between Los Angeles and Anaheim. As of 2022 Census estimates, the city’s population sits at just under 100,000 in total, including over 13,000 residents aged 65 and over.

Seniors generally appreciate the comfortable climate of southern California as a whole, and Norwalk specifically offers older residents more incentives such as its relatively low crime rates and more affordable health costs. Although the overall cost of living in Norwalk is well above average for the nation, it remains considerably below the norm for California.

Seniors in and around Norwalk pay an average of $5,250 per month for assisted living, according to the Genworth 2021 Cost of Care Survey, which is identical to that of California overall.
