Moreno Valley is part of Riverside County and the Inland Empire area. It’s a quaint yet newer city that boasts California’s signature weather and plenty of outdoor activities to keep aging adults active year-round.

Seniors living in Moreno Valley benefit from having major medical facilities within the city limits, including the main campus of the Riverside University Health System and the Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley Medical Center. Like most of California, the overall cost of living in Moreno Valley is above the national average, but the state doesn’t tax Social Security benefits and Riverside County’s sales tax is lower than 68.5% of other California cities and counties. It also has a lower violent crime rate and snow is non-existent in the area.

Seniors comprise 9% of Moreno Valley’s population, and those needing some daily assistance but don’t require extensive nursing care may benefit from assisted living communities. According to Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey, the average cost of assisted living in Moreno Valley is $5,250 per month, which mirrors the state average but is lower than nearby San Diego’s cost of $5,475 and Oxnard’s $5,750.
