Located 25 minutes east of downtown Dallas, Forney is a small city that families looking for somewhere peaceful for a loved one may want to consider. It’s a quaint community with a charming main street and 12 antique stores, cementing its reputation as the antique capital of Texas. There are also over 242 acres of parkland, providing plenty of spaces for seniors to enjoy the fine weather.

The 65+ age group only comprises 8.1% of the city’s population, but Forney offers much to older residents. These include very low rates of property and violent crime and above-average water and air quality. There are several medical facilities in Forney, so older residents are only ever minutes from care professionals. The facilities include Baylor Scott & White Emergency Center, which is 15 minutes from the provider’s medical center in Sunnyvale, and Care United Medical Center.

According to the 2021 Genworth Cost of Care Survey, the median monthly fee for assisted living in Forney is $4,195. This is more than the Texas average of $3,998 but more affordable than the country’s $4,500.

Note: Data for Forney was unavailable, so data for the nearest city, Dallas, was used instead.

This guide lists Forney’s top 10 assisted living communities for families comparing locations for a loved one.
