The 10 Best Assisted Living Facilities in Woodbridge, VA

Image 1

Woodbridge is a small community located just outside of Washington, D.C., along the Potomac River in Virginia. Woodbridge allows seniors easy access to the big-city amenities and culture of the nation’s capital, while its smaller size provides the more relaxed pace of a small town.

This area is rich in U.S. history and is located near the Revolutionary War and Civil War battlegrounds. State parks, such as Leesville State Park, with its gentle walking paths and areas for picnicking, are lovely places for seniors to spend time with visiting family. The town of Woodbridge has a low crime rate, which many seniors may find reassuring. The weather in the spring, summer and fall is warm and pleasant, although winters can be cold and snowy. The cost of living is a little higher than the national average; however, Virginia doesn’t levy a state income tax on SSI income, which may benefit retirees who collect it.

Assisted living fees in Woodbridge are higher than the state average, according to the Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2019, at $5,100 per month, compared to $4,800 for Virginia overall. By comparison, Richmond, another larger metro area averages $4,848 per month, while nearby Baltimore is much less, averaging $4,225 per month.

Note: The figures for Woodridge were not available, so costs for the nearest metro area, Washington, D.C., were used.
