Phoenixville, PA, is a Chester County borough less than 20 minutes west of King of Prussia. It’s a former steel town that’s living up to its name, rising from the past to become a quaint home for families and elders. The relatively peaceful streets are lined with attractive houses and the busiest ones are home to numerous specialty stores, while on Bridge Street you’ll find the iconic Colonial Theater.

There are many reasons you might find Phoenixville appealing, such as its low levels of crime and the relatively comfortable climate (by Pennsylvania’s standards). The region also has more physicians per capita than normal and several well-respected medical facilities, such as Phoenixville Hospital and Physicians Care Surgical Hospital. Consequently, finding good medical care here shouldn’t be a challenge.

Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey found Phoenixville’s median monthly fee for assisted living to be $5,685, which is significantly more than Pennsylvania’s average of $4,100 and the country’s $4,500. Although costlier than normal, Phoenixville’s fees are in keeping with the median fees of nearby cities, such as Lancaster ($5,550), York ($5,510) and Reading ($5,720).

Note: Data for Phoenixville was unavailable, so data for the nearest city, Philadelphia, was used instead.
