Philadelphia suburb Drexel Hill has a population of slightly under 30,000 citizens, 14.5% of whom are aged 65 and over. The area’s low crime rate and easy access to Philadelphia make it attractive to retirees who want the relative safety of small-town living without sacrificing the amount and quality of the urban amenities of a major city.

Delaware County Memorial Hospital is a 100-bed facility that provides Drexel Hill residents with primary and specialty care. Additionally, Philadelphia is less than 30 minutes away and has world-class medical facilities such as the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, which has been ranked as one of the top hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

Assisted living facility residents in Drexel Hill and other suburbs of Philadelphia pay a monthly average of $5,685, according to Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey. This is more than $1,000 higher than the national average of $4,500 and over $1,500 higher than Pennsylvania’s statewide median.

We’ve put together a list of our top 10 favorite assisted living facilities around Drexel Hill. Keep reading for more information and to see if any are right for you.

Alternatively, they can visit the pub or bistro for a quick snack or ask the concierge to arrange for transportation for an evening out. Sunrise of Haverford

Sunrise of Haverford is situated on the Philadelphia Main Line and offers easy access to Lankenau Hospital. We included it on our list due to the open concept of the facility's dining plan, which allows residents to dine on their own schedule rather than adhering to set mealtimes. Our favorite parts of this facility, however, is the wraparound porch with comfortable seating areas and tables as well as the flower-filled secret garden, where residents can relax while appreciating nature's beauty, enjoy an al fresco snack or beverage with other residents or gather with visiting family and friends.
