Movie buffs can enjoy their favorite films at the community's theater after enjoying a chef-prepared meal, and billiard enthusiasts can find plenty of company in the on-site billiard room.
With a resident capacity of 425, Parkway Village is one of the largest facilities on the top 10 list, making it a good choice for those who thrive on having plenty of potential friends and activity partners. The 84-acre campus features walking trails where residents and their pets can get exercise and fresh air, picnic and barbecue locations and outdoor seating areas. Parkway Village is a gated community with on-site security personnel for an extra layer of safety.
Vitality Living Pleasant Hills
Situated in a peaceful, scenic residential neighborhood with views of the Arkansas River, this facility offers a variety of lifestyle amenities. Residents can get their hair cut and styled at the on-site salon/barbershop, practice their piano skills on the grand piano, pick up essentials at the general store or enjoy quiet time while relaxing on their patio or balcony. The restaurant-style dining room serves three meals per day and provides room service. A private dining room is available to host visiting family and friends or hold personal festivities among residents.
What we like best about this family-founded, faith-based community is the range of floor plans offered, including studios through two-bedroom units, large windows, spacious closets and individually controlled thermostats. We also like the community's wooded setting and proximity to Interstate 630, making it convenient for family and friends to visit. Weekly Walmart shopping trips, arts and crafts projects and water aerobics are all regular features on the community's activity calendar.
Brookdale Chenal Heights
Brookdale Chenal Heights provides a home-like setting with a wide range of on-site activities for residents to enjoy. Activities include Wii Sports, art workshops, fitness classes and community gardening. Residents are also welcome to participate in off-site excursions to local restaurants, special events and points of interest. Personal services include help with grooming, dressing, bathing and weekly housekeeping and laundry. Each residential unit is equipped with an emergency call system, cable and a kitchenette.
Fox Ridge Chenal
This pet-friendly facility earned its place on our top 10 list because of its resort-style ambiance and amenities. The restaurant-style dining room serves three gourmet quality meals per day, there is an on-site movie theater and the living areas are comfortable and spacious. Other on-site amenities include a fitness center, a pool with a hot tub where residents can relax away their aches and pains and a billiards/game room.
The Manor - Senior Living Community
The facilities we've featured so far allow pets, so we decided to include this one for those who have allergies or would prefer to live in a pet-free environment. Floor plans here include studio and one-bedroom units with kitchenettes or full kitchens. There is a grand piano next to a large fireplace in the main common area. Outdoor amenities include walking trails and a gazebo. Free transportation is available to nearby medical and dental practices.
This faith-based facility has a chaplain on staff and offers several devotional services, including resident-led Bible study groups. Two computer workstations equipped with Skype are available in the library for residents to stay in contact with family and friends. There are two on-site salon/barber shops and some vans used for scheduled transportation are wheelchair-friendly. Presbyterian Village also offers one-level living, making it a good option for those who'd prefer not to have to navigate elevators or stairs. The skilled culinary staff specializes in Southern cuisine and prepares three delicious and nutritious meals daily, with snacks and beverages available at all times.
Willow Grove of Sherwood
We like Willow Grove of Sherwood's inclusive approach to wellness, which includes nutritional counseling, daily fitness and wellness classes, workshops and regular assessments. Caregivers are on-staff 24-hours per day, and physical and occupational therapy are available. There is a guest suite for visiting family and friends and a private party space and dining room.
