With only eight rooms in total, residents get to know one another, receive personalized service and never feel as if they are lost in a crowd. Rooms are furnished, but residents are welcome to bring their favorite things from home. This facility is located in a serene residential neighborhood, and there is a large backyard where residents can garden, enjoy a picnic lunch or simply sit and listen to the birds sing or read a good book.

Beds are made and trash baskets are emptied every day, and there are four levels of care designed to meet varying levels of resident need. On-site religious services are held on Sundays and Wednesdays, and residents can also participate in weekly group Bible study sessions, making this facility an excellent choice for those seeking a faith-based assisted living experience.

Legacy House offers studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with state-of-the-art emergency call systems, kitchenettes, private baths and individually controlled heating and cooling controls. The comfortable, attractive common areas provide a pleasant environment for socializing with other residents or meeting family and friends. Where this facility really shines, however, is in its outdoor living spaces, where residents can wander along well-kept walking paths with their small pets and enjoy flower gardens and water features. There is an RN available around the clock.

Country Care Assisted Living is another facility that stood out because of its small size and family-like ambiance. With a resident capacity of only 32 and a caring, responsive staff, this community is an excellent match for those seeking an intimate ambiance. Resident units are equipped with kitchenettes, individual temperature controls and satellite cable and internet. There is a piano, a sunroom, an arts and crafts area, a computer center and an on-site beauty salon/barbershop. The outdoor areas have walking paths, fish ponds and comfortable seating areas, and there is a covered porch. 

The Villas at Baer Creek is another small facility that promotes a family feeling among residents and staff. The 16-bed capacity ensures that residents receive a lot of one-on-one attention, but just because this facility is small doesn't mean it skimps on services and amenities. There is an on-site theater room, a fitness room, a beauty salon/barbershop and an entertainment room. Furnishings are elegant-but-comfortable, and there is a fireplace in the main living area for cozy gatherings or enjoying a book or puzzle. We like this facility because there are lots of trees in the outdoor living spaces and a creek running along the back of the property, but that's not where the nature theme ends. Apple Tree Assisted Living's indoor areas have raised beds with trees and flowers growing in them, indoor ponds with frogs, fish and turtles and an indoor aviary where residents can enjoy the music of songbirds.
