Connecticut Pharmaceutical Assistance Program

Page Reviewed / Updated - July 25, 2019

As of December 31, 2013, the state of Connecticut has closed the ConnPACE Program.  We continue to maintain this page so readers are made aware of the program's closure as the state has ceased to operate the ConnPACE website. Other forms of financial assistance for prescription drugs can be found here.

Program Description

The Connecticut Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly and Disabled Program is more commonly referred as to ConnPACE. This program provides financial assistance to non-Medicaid eligible seniors to help them afford their out-of-pocket, prescription drug co-payments and premiums. Assistance is provided to both individuals with one-time prescription needs for a specific illness as well as to those with chronic conditions that require ongoing medications such as for diabetes. This program is known as a Medicare wraparound program which means the benefits wrap around those benefits provided by a Medicare Part D plan. When making a prescription purchase, Medicare Part D is the first payer and then this program contributes towards those costs the Part D plan does not cover.

Eligibility Guidelines

To be eligible for this program, seniors must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a Connecticut resident for 6 months prior to application
  • Be 65 years of age or older
  • Cannot be on Medicaid
  • Must be on or sign up for a Medicare Part D plan
  • Cannot have other prescription insurance
  • The 2013 individual annual income limit is $26,000 and $35,000 for married couples.

Benefits and Services

ConnPACE will assist with prescription costs and with Medicare Part D plan premiums. There is a $45 annual fee for the ConnPACE program.
