West Valley City is a busy professional hub that sits almost exactly between the western reaches of Salt Lake City and the lake itself. That makes it just about the last stop before the Salt Lakers hit the beach on their day off. Home to plenty of shopping and entertainment options, West Valley City’s population trends toward young urban professionals, with just 8.7% of the city’s 139,000 residents being seniors aged 65 and over.

The senior community in West Valley City experiences a very low crime rate and less than half the national average of rainfall each year. The local cost of living is somewhat higher than national averages, but it’s still lower in West Valley than in adjacent Salt Lake City across most categories. Jordan Valley Medical Center is situated downtown, while St. Mark’s Hospital is a short hop away on the 201. Both facilities offer world-class senior health services and accept Medicare.

The 2021 Genworth Cost of Care Survey reported the average cost of assisted living in West Valley City was just $3,310 a month, which is well below the national average of $4,500. It’s even below the Utah average of $3,500 a month for similar levels of care.

Note: Data for West Valley City was unavailable, so data for the nearest city, Salt Lake City, was used instead.

This guide ranks the 10 best assisted living communities in West Valley City, along with what makes them desirable to seniors and families looking for the right place to settle down.
