Hicksville is a hamlet on New York’s Long Island Peninsula, within the larger community of the Town of Oyster Bay and less than half an hour’s drive from Manhattan.

Approximately 17.4% of Hicksville’s overall population of slightly under 44,000 residents are aged 65 and over, attesting to the hamlet’s popularity as a retirement destination. Seniors are drawn to a mixture of amenities typically found in village life, including low property and low violent crime rates and proximity to one of the world’s most vibrant cities. Hicksville has a typical Long Island climate, with plenty of rain, snow in winter and warm, pleasant summers.

According to the 2021 Genworth Cost of Care Survey, the average monthly cost of assisted living in Hicksville is $5,750, which is significantly higher than the national average of $4,500, as well as the New York average of $4,580.

Sunrise of Glen Cove

Sunrise of Glen Cove earned its place on our top 10 list because of its dining options for residents. The Regency Assisted Living

We chose this facility for our top 10 list because we really liked the thoughtful design of the spacious floor plans, especially the alcoves in the studio units and cozy touches such as plush wall-to-wall carpeting. Sunrise of Huntington

With a 110-resident capacity, we felt that this community was just the right size for those seeking a happy medium between getting lost in the crowd of a large facility and not having enough friends and activity partners in a small facility. Pet-friendly floor plans include studio and one- and two-bedroom units, with companion suites available upon request. We liked the comfortable outdoor seating areas where residents can relax with a book or visit with friends, but our favorite thing about this facility is its resident dog and cat so that those without their own pets can still enjoy the company of animals.

The Bristal Assisted Living at East Meadow

We liked this facility's chef demos in the country club-style kitchen, diverse activities calendar and roomy floor plans with luxury finishes in each unit. But what really made us take notice was the signature programs for both staff and residents. Staff members receive comprehensive sensitivity training to help them understand the challenges and complexities residents regularly face, while residents can reduce their risk of falling and consequent injuries by participating in the Mobility Enhancement Program. This program is highly individualized to address each person's unique fall risks.
