The 10 Best Assisted Living Facilities in West Chester, PA

Image 1

West Chester, a small, popular suburb of Philadelphia, has many features that make it a desirable retirement destination. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, West Chester has more than a dozen historic buildings and landmarks, including Birmingham Hill.

In addition to enjoying the region’s rich past, seniors will appreciate West Chester’s proximity to many beautiful outdoor parks and preserves, as well as the iconic Longwood Gardens. Walking is also an ideal way to get around West Chester, which has a high walk score, and some seniors walk to tuition-free courses at West Chester University or grab a cup of coffee with friends. Transportation around the borough is also convenient, given the discounted rate available for seniors using Rainbow Cab services, and transportation to and from the West Chester Area Senior Center is free. Boutique shopping, fine dining and museums such as Chester County Historical Society are in or near the downtown area.  Philadelphia is just an hour away.

More amenities typically translates to higher costs for assisted living and this is true of West Chester. Because of its proximity to Philadelphia, its average monthly assisted living costs, at $4,875, are moderately higher than the state average of $3,913. While assisted living costs are lower in more rural communities such as Johnstown or larger cities such as Pittsburgh, West Chester has a high overall living score and access to attractive amenities and services.
