The Wisconsin Community Options Program is designed to allow seniors who are at risk for nursing home placement to remain living at home or the home of a caregiver and receive services and care at those locations. Some of the services include: home modification, respite care, home health care, personal care and housekeeping. Individuals may be responsible for some co-payments; and there may be a waiting list for services.
Supplemental Security Income typically has financial income, asset limitations of approximately $2,000 in monthly income, and $2,000 in assets, exempting the home and vehicle.
The monthly income limit is approximately $1,500. This program requires that all other sources of funding be considered before eligibility is confirmed. To learn more or apply, contact your county’s Community Options Program coordinator.
This program should not be confused with the Wisconsin COP-Waiver program, which is related but is specifically designed for Medicaid enrollers.
