Maryland Senior Care Program: Eligibility and Benefits
Overview of the Senior Care Program
The Maryland Senior Care Program helps seniors who are at risk for nursing home placement to remain in their homes or living in the home of caregivers by providing a variety services and supports in those locations. The program is intended for individuals that have low incomes and limited assets but do not qualify for Medicaid.
Senior Care Program Eligibility
Final eligibility for the Senior Care Program is determined at the county level. Follows are generalized eligibility requirements.
-Must be at least 65 years of age
-Must be at risk for nursing home placement or moderately disabled. Participants usually require assistance with 1-3 activities of daily living.
-Must be a Maryland resident
-Monthly income cannot exceed (approximately) $2,600 for an individual or $3,450 if married.
-Value of their assets cannot exceed $11,000 if they are single or $14,000 as a married couple.
-Must be at least 65 years of age
