Maryland In Home-Aide Services (IHAS)

What are Maryland's In Home-Aide Services?
The In Home-Aide Services program provides disabled and / or elderly Maryland residents with home aides to assist individuals with their activities and instrumental activities of daily living.  Home aides can help with personal care such as dressing, bathing and eating, as well as chores such as cooking, laundry, cleaning, transportation and shopping.  The program is intended to keep individuals, who are at risk for nursing home placement, living in their homes or in the community instead.
What are the Eligibility Requirements for In Home-Aide Services?
This program is open to all Maryland residents aged 18 or older that have a functional disability that results in them requiring assistance to remain living in their homes.  There are not fixed financial eligibility requirements however an applicant's financial status is a consideration when determining the cost of services.  Typically individuals are charged a reduced rate based on a sliding scale determined by their income.

Individuals are scored according to need; and funding is prioritized. Therefore, eligibility does not guarantee service.

What are the Benefits of the In Home-Aide Services?
Participants can receive up to 20 hours per week of assistance from home aides.  Aides can help with personal care such as dressing, bathing, grooming and eating, as well as chores such as cooking, laundry, cleaning, transportation and shopping for essential items.
